Abstract

The Father John G. Hacker collection, 1920-1950, contains letters and biographical information about Father Hacker, incoming letters to Father Hacker from friends and Maryland government officials, reviews of his "Catholic Hymnal" book, and pages of music he composed or used for religious services. Father John G. Hacker, S.J. was born August 21, 1877 in Buffalo, New York. He was a celebrated German professor and music prefect at Loyola College until his death on September 11, 1946.

Abstract Campus Ministry at Loyola has its origins in the single position of Chaplain. While there may have been a chaplain at Loyola in its early years, the first catalog that lists the position of Chaplain, Day College is in 1966-67. After several name changes, the organization reverted back to the singular Campus Ministry and remains so to the present. Abstract

The Robert D. Rhoad sheet music collection, 1800-1985, contains sheet music learned by Robert D. Rhoad throughout the 1930s. Rhoad graduated from Loyola College in 1939 with a degree in chemistry. From a young age, he trained to be a bass singer and studied under Frank LaForge. The sheet music in this collection was taught to Robert by Lucien Odend'hal.
