Natural history scrapbook, 1890s
Scope and Contents
The Natural history scrapbooks collection, 1890-1903, contains clippings of newspaper articles and pictures about animals, plants, and natural history wonders as well as pressed plants. The first scrapbook's title page, page numbers and index are hand-drawn with intricate detail. Empty pages are left in between to signal the start of a new natural history topic. The index is arranged by animals, birds, fish, reptiles and insects, plants, and geology and natural wonders. The second scrapbook contains the common, generic, specific, and family names of plants.
