Biographical / Historical

The Bellarmine Debating Society, also known as the Robert Bellarmine Debating Society, was the Loyola College debating society. The society conducted practice debates within the society itself and with other colleges. The society participated in many debates with other colleges, usually on the collegiate question of the year, and in a number of debate tournaments.

The Bellarmine Debating Society held two annual prize activities, the Lee Oratorical Contest and the Jenkins Prize Debate. The society's members acted as judges for debates in the local Catholic high school debating league.

Loyola College also had a chapter of Tau Kappa Alpha (TKA), the National Honor Forensic Society. TKA conducted a tournament for local high school students.
