Abstract
The Loyola University Maryland English Department records include comedic student poety, short plays, two Pegasus newsletters, a list of humorous student awards, and an Effective Writing course booklet. Courses in English have been offered since the very founding of Loyola College in 1852. The first indication of a designated English major can be found in the academic catalog for the years 1939-1940.
