Scope and Contents

The First Friday Luncheon Club records, 1957-1968, contains mailing correspondence (most records from 1966-1968), addresses of members, member’s attendance records (alphabetized by last names), a list of officers and Board of Governors and when their terms expire from 1965-1969, a list of members who gave donations for Father Dougherty’s trip to San Francisco and their phone numbers, a celebration dinner program, a George R. Murray newspaper clipping, and an envelope with addresses.

The creator of these records was a member of the First Friday Luncheon Club in Baltimore, Maryland. This club allowed Catholic men to network and connect with one another at the monthly meetings. Additionally, each meeting hosted important speakers, usually men within the church like Bishops and Reverends and Fathers. The creator of these records meticulously recorded member information and club wide communications. This person was also tasked by the organization to reach out to members for donations. So, it can be presumed that the creator was an officer and/or member of the Board of Governors of this organization.
