Scope and Contents

The Sister Kathleen Engers theatre playbills collection, 1907-2014, consists of theater programs, souvenir books, and magazines from theaters in Maryland, Washington, D.C., New York City, London, Germany, and Canada. The playbills contain the name of the play, its cast members, and local advertisements from the era. Souvenir books contain background information on the play as well as cast member biographies and show highlights.

Biographical / Historical

Sister Kathleen Marie Engers was a communications and former drama professor at Notre Dame of Maryland University until her retirement in 2012. She founded Pumpkin Theatre of Baltimore at the college in 1967 with the mission to "entertain, empower, and educate" (Pumpkin Theatre, 2019) young children. In 1982, the theater moved off-campus and became a non-profit company following the dissolution of Notre Dame's drama department. Sister Kathleen retains Emeritus Board member status until today.

Sister Kathleen Marie Engers was a communications and former drama professor at Notre Dame of Maryland University until her retirement in 2012. Sister Kathleen remains a member of Pumpkin Theatre's Emeritus Board.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

This collection was donated by Sister Kathleen to Notre Dame of Maryland University on August 21, 2012, then forwarded to Archives and Special Collections on June 19, 2013. Additional items were donated by Sister Kathleen on March 18, 2014.
