Scope and Contents
The Official medal collection of the thirteen original states, 1975, consists of thirteen 24-karat gold on sterling silver medals with illustrations on the front and back representing each state's history and role in the American Revolution. Each medal is fitted into a blue, velveteen slot in a wooden case. Enclosed with the medals are a Certificate of Authenticity, dated October 15, 1975, and The Official Medal Collection of the Thirteen Original States booklet that identifies each state's medal and provides an overview of the collection.

Biographical / Historical
The Official medal collection of the thirteen original states was commissioned by the Bicentennial Council of the Thirteen Original States and minted by the Medallic Art Company in October 1975. These medals were authorized to commemorate the 1976 bicentennial celebration of the founding of the United States of America. Each state chose one artist from the area to design the front and the back of its respective medal. This collection was one of only 2,500 sets struck in 24-karat gold on sterling silver.
