Scope and Contents
The leaf is from the Book of Tobias. Chapter 9 begins: Tunc vocavit Tobias angelum ad se quem quidem hominem existimabat dixitque ei; Azaria frater peto ut auscultes verba mea. (Then Tobias called the angel to him, whom he took to be a man, and said to him: Brother Azarias, I pray thee hearken to my words.)

Biographical / Historical
Printer: Anton Koberger
Origin:
Anton Koberger (c. 1440-1513) was a goldsmith in Nuremburg. He was the godfather of Albrecht Dürer, whose family lived on the same street. Koberger turned to printed in 1470 and soon established the largest printing house in Europe, employing over 100 workers and 24 printing presses. His most famous publication was the Nuremberg Chronicle, a landmark of incunabula.

Recto: Two columns of Latin text printed in two sizes in black in a gothic font on laid and watermarked rag paper. Heading: Liber Tobie 178. Two multi-colored initials "T" and "C" (in the form of a dragon's head) beginning the Chapters.
Verso: As Recto with two further hand illuminated initials.
