Lincoln photographs, 1861-1865
Scope and Contents
This series contains contemporary photographs and engravings of Lincoln and men associated with him. There are original photographs of Lincoln by Mathew Brady as well as engravings of the photographs. There are also images of Lincoln associates including Civil War officers, members of his cabinet, members of Congress, state governors, newspapermen, and diplomats. These images are largely cartes de viste and engravings. There is also a set of images of Lincoln’s assassin, John Wilkes Booth, and two political cartoons from Lincoln’s two campaigns for the presidency in 1860 and 1864.
