Biographical / Historical
Alpha Psi Omega (APO) “is a National Theatre Honor Society for participants in collegiate theatre. It began in the early 20th century as a result of the growing interest in dramatic arts among colleges and universities throughout America, with the aim of encouraging dramatic production at every step in a person’s academic career.”
According to handwritten lists in the archives, charter members of Notre Dame’s Nu Lambda chapter of APO were admitted on May 19, 1960. The last list of new members admitted is dated May 8, 1968. APO is not currently listed on Notre Dame’s website as an honor society; APO’s website indicates that the Nu Lambda chapter was last active in May 1993.
