Biographical / Historical
According to a 1979-1980 brochure, the Community Service Organization (CSO) "enable[d] students to realize the practical application of classroom theory, to test concepts and career goals by firsthand experience, and to gain a sense of fulfillment as a person in the community." Students volunteered on campus or off campus for a city-wide agency.
According to a 1995-1996 brochure, CSO was "a IOC (Inter-Organizational Council) organization that provide[d] service opportunities on campus to the Notre Dame Community." CSO membership and participation in CSO activities were open to all students, faculty, and staff.
