Biographical / Historical

Zeta Eta Theta was also known as the Brotherhood of Zeta Eta Theta or the Society of Zeta Eta Theta. The Brotherhood of Zeta Eta Theta was officially established in 1937. The original Alpha chapter was formed by boys from both secondary schools and in college, including a graduate of Loyola College, in 1940. Between 1941 and 1946, other chapters were formed including the Zeta chapter for alumni members. In 1948, the Alpha Alpha chapter was created for the sole membership of Loyola College students.

The purpose of the Society of Zeta Eta Theta was expressed in the society’s pledge, “We are pledged on our honor to live up to the high standards of truthfulness and virtue of the Society of Zeta Eta Theta, to strengthen, broaden and encourage its morals; to create and establish an unblemished sense of honor about our beings and to love and help each member of this organization as though he were of my own flesh and blood.”
