Patricia Murphy, SSND led an oral history project in 1989 to interview faculty, staff, alumni, and others connected with the College of Notre Dame of Maryland. She conducted the interviews and edited transcripts created by Frances Nilsson. This project was intended to inform the writing of a history of the college. This series includes all known versions of the interviews, including print transcripts, analog recordings, and digital recordings.

Access is restricted to education records of living students or former students, as defined by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, unless the student or former student grants access in writing. If it is not possible to verify date of death, the student will be assumed to be deceased 80 years after date of graduation, or date of last attendance.

In some cases, oral histories may be restricted by the interviewee, or the lack of a consent form makes the interviewee's wishes unclear. In these cases public access to the interview is restricted.

Biographical / Historical

Brigadier General Elizabeth P. Hoisington, U.S.A. (Ret.) is a member of the class of 1940 of the College of Notre Dame of Maryland. She received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the College in 1967. She served on the President's Council from 1976-1978 and was the Alumna Chairperson of the Second Spring campaign and co-chair of the Blue and White Ball. She was appointed to the Board of Trustees in 1984, a position she held at the time of this interview.
